Independent Study 2
Please list all the different projects you made during your independent study time. Which was your favorite? Which was your least favorite?
I made two complete projects during my independent study time: One with Watercolor paint and one with Acrylic paint. I don't necessarily have a favorite and least favorite because I enjoyed the process and result of both of them equally. I think that I like this project better than the watercolor one because I could experiment with acrylic paint. For independent study this semester, did you focus more on trying out new things or getting better at things you already know how to do? On this, specific, project I focused on trying out new things because I had more experience with watercolor and I wanted to explore outside of my comfort zone. Are you happy with what you accomplished? What do you actually feel like you accomplished or learned? I'm pretty satisfied with the project, not only because the result is similar to my intentions, but also because I feel successful after this being my third time using acrylic paint. I learned the differences between the usage of watercolor and acrylic paint, and what kind of effect I can get. If there was something you wish you had done differently for independent study time, what would it have been? For example, was there something you didn’t do that you still want to, or something you regret trying? I regret making the background so strong in both color and texture, because the emphasis was supposed to be on the person's face, yet the strong background nullified the focus, making the entire drawing look powerful and messy. What can I do to make independent time more interesting or meaningful to you? I think it would be better to be given suggestions because I didn't have a single idea before thinking of this project, which made me struggle for a class or so. Was there something that you want me to stop doing specifically relating to independent work, or something that you would like me to start doing? I don't really have anything to stop or start about independent work, but I wish there were some suggested options for people who need a little guidance in finding what they want to do. |
